Aug 2012 | The Big List, Hotpress & more.

Hello all.  Here’s a recap of what happened during August.  I know I said in the last blog that I’d have another big radio network play to report.  It didn’t fall in time for this month’s deadline, but check our facebook at the end of next week and it’ll be there – promise.  We had lots of other welcome surprises this month though, starting with…

» Hotpress (Ireland)

This fortnight’s issue of Hotpress is the first of hopefully many to feature Unquiet Nights.  As well as a cover story on The Cure, and a hooker’s journey from New York to Cork, we make an appearance on page 28.  Click on Robert Smith’s eyeliner to see a scan of the article, or just read what was said below.

“…Next up, those generous souls Unquiet Nights have decided to treat you all by making four tracks from their ace album “21st Century Redemption Songs” free to download via unquietnights.com. So, if you haven’t had the chance to check out this promising rock ‘n’ roll band, now’s your chance. The trio, who are based in N.I. and Italy, have been receiving a bit of airplay on RTE 2fm, and if you’re a fan of The Charlatans, Tom Petty and rock songs with classic choruses then you should have a listen….”

» The Big List:  Unquiet Nights Q&A

We knew that there was going to be an Unquiet Nights Q&A in the 13th August issue of The Big List, but it came as a surprise to us the we were on the cover.  Scissor Sisters have a bigger picture though, so – still work for us to do.

Here’s the Q&A (page 31), with Edwin McFee asking the questions.  He asked a bit about the first album, thoughts on giving away a free sampler version of “21st…”, plans for a second album and the direction of Rock & Roll generally. You can read the full article by clicking the scan below.

» More Surfing, Skiing & Snowboarding

Some of our music will be used in an upcoming Ski & Snowboarding documentary called Freeride Deluxe, which is being  produced by an Austrian company at  the minute.  Also, a large surfing equipment company have requested “Shoulda Said  Something” for some type of upcoming campaign.  More on that in a future blog when I have the info.

» Justin Wayne Show: Episode #170.

“We Were The Ones” is on the recent episode #170 of the Justin Wayne Show, on a playlist called “Rock from the Archives“. He’s leaving London to go back to the US soon, so this is one of  his last shows from UK.  Best of luck to Justin, and thanks for supporting us from the first couple of days of our recorded existence.  You can also re-visit the extended album omnibus interview we did on his show earlier in the year.

» Live @ Experience Due.

Those of you who’ve been following us since last September might remember we did a session on Radio Galileo (Italy).  It was part of a project called  the 10 Years Experience to celebrate the anniversary of Experience Due.  They’re releasing a compilation of the best live tracks since the show started, and didn’t want us to make anything from the session available until they had put theirs out.  They let us know this week that we could use it now, so we should be able to able to put the tracks together as a (free) download package for those of you who’ve been asking about it.

» Finally…

21st Century Redemption Songs is available physically using Paypal, or Bandcamp for £8 + P&P. It comes with a booklet, liner notes & the same 10 songs as the digital version, which is available at all these stores also.

You can download some of the songs from unquietnights.com/music, but if you do that as opposed to buying the album, atleast join the mailing list, our facebook page, or twitter to stay up to date.  All the best…
