"Destiny Does The Splitstep" was new then, I remember playing that. Also did good in-depth interview before that gig for Roots Musings on Dublin City FM. Denis (the host) grilled me extensively about my influences. Couldn't quite get him to admit Neil Diamond is a genius, but at least that "Solitary Man" is a great song. There was an RTE 2XM interview before that gig too. Hope we get back around Austria again. #innsbruck #austria #salzburg #band #tour #music #rock #valentinorossi #fiat #sassuolo About 20 years ago, not sure of the exact day, the first band Rodger & I had (also David, Lewis, etc) were enjoying a nice run with a single called “The Siren”. That was the second thing we’d recorded with @manorparkstudio at the time. Happily, luckily, it did pretty well and got us on some of the bigger stations in N.Ireland back then (Cool FM, Downtown FM) and got us invited in to film a thing for The Kelly Show at UTV. It got us soundtracked on National Geographic, and a Sky music channel. Got us booked at some of the best venues (The Empire, Mandela Hall, Rosetta, Glasgowbury…). Actually, come to think of it… It did pretty, pretty good for us all considered. Imagine that in Larry David’s voice if you will. I may never mention “The Siren” again for another 20 years, but it seemed inappropriate to let it pass without so much as a quick mention. I would say that without it getting some good attention, there may never have been any Unquiet Nights later. The first album “21st…” was about to come out too. That song did some good things to help push us along a bit further. BBC 6 Music (Tom Robinson) and AmazingRadio played it, and I remember quite a few of our supportive friends had a particular liking for it. Over the years in the live sets I remember feeling on stage like this song was really working for us too. So… Cheers to songs that people embrace!
